A search has been declared for former deputy of the faction of the Republican Party of Armenia in the National Assembly, former Prosecutor General of Armenia Gevorg Kostanyan, and a motion has been filed with the court to select remand as a preventive measure for him. This is what Spokesperson of the Special Investigation Service of Armenia Marina Ohanjanyan told Armenian News-NEWS.am today.

Gevorg Kostanyan is involved in the case of the events of March 1, 2008 as an accused-on-trial. Under the procedure of part 1 of Article 203 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Armenia, he was offered to show up to the body implementing proceedings within 48 hours in order for a charge to be brought up, yet he failed to show up to the body implementing proceedings.

Earlier, Kostanyan had told Armenian News-NEWS.am that he was in the Russian Federation where he has a one-year employment contract and couldn’t show up to the body implementing proceedings.
