YEREVAN. – We and Prime Minister Pashinyan have spoken very clearly about the practical significance of Artsakh's direct involvement in the process. Armenia’s Foreign Minister Zohrab Mnatsakanyan stated this in a conversation with reporters today, referring to the negotiation process of the Artsakh issue.

"In these unnatural conditions we have to negotiate in some way in two directions, and I am in constant contact with my colleague, Artsakh Foreign Minister Masis Mayilian," the minister said. "As a result, we are in the process of negotiating with Artsakh as well, which is practically ineffective, and Artsakh's involvement is simply of practical importance for this process."

Commenting on the journalist's observation that Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov also stated that the settlement of the Artsakh issue should be acceptable to the three peoples, Mnatsakanyan replied: "The fact that it is impossible to solve the Artsakh issue without the participation of Artsakh, without the voice of Artsakh, is a reality that has been accepted and expressed on various occasions; most recently, also by the Russian Foreign Minister. But, it is not also so that it is not as perceptible to the other co-chairs of the OSCE Minsk Group. This is a reality that cannot be avoided."

Referring to the border situation, the Minister said: "This is also one of the fundamental issues in the entirety of our negotiations. All actions that will lead to escalation risk reduction have been and remain a priority for us, and they are an important component of our negotiation package."
