China in response to the adoption of a law in the US on Hong Kong suspends consideration of requests from the US to visit Hong Kong by American warships and aircraft, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Hua Chunying said at a briefing on Monday.

According to her, the Chinese government has decided to suspend consideration of US requests for visits to Hong Kong by American warships and aircraft, RIA Novosti reported.

Earlier, US President Donald Trump signed two laws relating to Hong Kong on the protection of human rights and democracy in Hong Kong, as well as on the prohibition of the supply of certain police equipment to the special administrative region. The documents amend the US 1992 Hong Kong Policy act and imply an annual review of trade relations with Hong Kong, depending on its degree of autonomy, as well as sanctions against those whom Washington considers to be responsible for human rights violations in the administrative region.
