YEREVAN. – The court hearing on the case of Armenia’s former President Robert Kocharyan and others was adjourned shortly after resuming today (PHOTOS).

Mihran Poghosyan, the lawyer for former CSTO Secretary General Yuri Khachaturov, began to file a motion to lift the restriction on his client’s crossing border. But the lawyer was unable to submit the motion to the end because he felt ill.

Presiding Judge Anna Danibekyan announced a recess, and suggested that the lawyer call an ambulance.

But after the short break the session resumed, and Poghosyan continued presenting his aforesaid motion.

Lawyers for the other defendants also supported their colleague and joined the motion.

But Prosecutor Petros Petrosyan objected to this motion. In his view, the point is not about banning crossing the border, but simply that if released on bail, it is impossible to go abroad without the knowledge of the court. A per the prosecutor, since the investigative body has not made a decision on a ban, there is no reason to demand anything. And in the opinion of Prosecutor Gevorg Baghdasaryan, since there was no decision, there is nothing to lift.
