President of the United States Donald Trump said he considers imposing sanctions against Turkey in connection with the purchase of S400 missile systems and accused his predecessor of failing to sell American missile systems to Turkey.

During his joint briefing with French president Emmanuel Macron, Trump said the Obama administration did not let Turkey buy Patriot.

Macron, in turn, noted that Turkey and France are working on security, trade and migration, but added that Turkey, being NATO member, cannot buy Russian S400.

Macron accused Turkey of working with “ISIS proxies”, adding that Turkey has to give explanations in this regard.

“When I look at Turkey, they now are fighting against those who fought with us. And sometimes they work with ISIS proxies,” he said.

When asked by Trump whether Paris intends to take back ISIS fighters, Macron replied: “Let's be serious.”

He added that the issue of foreign fighters will be resolved in each case, and the priority is the completion of the war against the Islamic State.
