The Senate Foreign Relations Committee will vote next week on legislation proposing sanctions against Turkey.

Sen. Jim Risch (R-Idaho), the committee’s chairman, said he plans to bring up his sanctions bill for a vote, The Hill reported.

The bill introduced together with Sen. Bob Menendez would restrict U.S. arms sales to Turkey and sanction Turkish officials and those involved in providing weapons to Turkey's military in Syria.

If approved by the Committee, the document will be brought for a vote at Senate panel, and would later be submitted to president.
