I want to invite Azerbaijani Vice President Mehriban Aliyeva to Karabakh. Anna Hakobyan, the spouse of Armenia’s Prime Minister, said this today at a conference on the role of women in peacebuilding.

"A few days ago, Mehriban Aliyeva wrote a status that it was their dream to hear Mugham [Azerbaijani music] in Karabakh," she said. “I roughly know about the context in which she wrote it. Now I want to invite Mehriban Aliyeva to Karabakh and she can be our guest. The Armenian people, the people of Artsakh know how to receive, respect the guest. One of our accepted rules is to honor the guest with his music; we can provide Mugham. We can fulfill her dream, and she will be our guest, hear her beloved Mugham in Karabakh. This is indeed an invitation. And if she accepts this invitation, I am ready to be in Baku myself and be hosted by them. And I think this could be a very real and very high-profile way of achieving UN Resolution 1325 worldwide. But if Mehriban Aliyeva means that their dream is to come to Karabakh and hear Mugham through war, I assure you, that dream will remain unfulfilled. And if a new war breaks out, it is likely that new settlements will emerge, where listening Mugham will become an unfulfilled dream to them."

Hakobyan stressed that her invitation is serious. "That is to say, if Mehriban Aliyeva says on behalf of herself and her people that they dream of listening to Mugham in Karabakh, then there is one way to achieve this: peace, good neighborly relations with Artsakh and mutual visits as guests, just like they drink tea in Karabakh and listen to Mugham, enjoy the nature there, so I'm sure the people of Karabakh would like to be in Baku, ”she said. “This is real, not a fantasy series. I want to say that my invitation is a serious invitation. "

She added, however, that the Azerbaijani side must show political will.

"Different peoples of the world have been able to overcome wars that have lasted for longer years, have overcome hostility, and have no borders today, they live in the same economic and financial union, they are best friends. If this has been achieved by other European peoples, why should we not succeed?” she said. "Simply, the Azerbaijani side must show political will and finally shake off the war obsession, realizing that it can achieve nothing with that."

Anna Hakobyan also made a post on her Facebook page inviting Mehriban Aliyeva to Artsakh and insisting her invitation is serious.
