The servicemen involved in the incident were described as exclusively positive, and this is extremely rare. If any one of them was in a conflict, they wouldn’t be designated to the same military position for on-duty service. This is what Deputy Minister of Defense of Armenia Gabriel Balayan said during the conference “The Role of Women in Shaping Peace: Opportunities and Challenges” today, commenting on the murder of a soldier and the injury of another serviceman at N military unit of the Defense Army of Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh Republic). According to him, it is necessary to wait for the results of the work of law-enforcement authorities and the court decision to understand the motive of the actions.

The deputy minister declared that women play a bigger role than one can assume, particularly when it comes to making recruits or soldiers be tolerant. “I always talk to the soldiers’ parents and relatives. Perhaps there is a need to teach servicemen to be more tolerant. Military service implies difficulties that one doesn’t face as a citizen,” Balayan explained.

On December 2 at around 06:50, in unknown circumstances, soldier Artur Ajamyan (born in 1998) received a lethal injury at one of the military units of the Defense Army stationed in the northeastern direction. A criminal case has been instituted (attempt of murder).
