Azerbaijan’s position hasn’t changed since 1988. This is what Deputy Chief of staff of the President of Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh Republic), Head of the Central Information Department Davit Babayan declared today, commenting on, at the request of Armenian News-NEWS.am, Baku’s vision for the political settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict disseminated by the Azerbaijani delegation to the OSCE.

Jokingly expressing gratitude to Azerbaijan for such a “surprise” gift ahead of the New Year and on the threshold of the meeting of the foreign ministers of Armenia and Azerbaijan, Davit Babayan emphasized that this doesn’t come as a surprise in reality. “This is Azerbaijan’s vision that hasn’t changed since 1988. Azerbaijan is clearly stating that it doesn’t accept any solution to the issue that is related to the existence and recognition of the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic beyond the borders of Azerbaijan. Moreover, this time, there is not even a word about sovereignty. They say the solution has to be “in accordance with the laws of the Republic of Azerbaijan”,” Babayan stated.

According to him, this approach goes to show once again that nothing has changed in Azerbaijan and will rarely change in the visible future.
