YEREVAN. – Hraparak newspaper of Armenia writes: According to our information, the SIS [Special Investigation Service] will soon drop a part of the accusation filed against [National Assembly (NA) ex-speaker] Ara Babloyan and [ex-deputy chief of staff of the NA] Arsen Babayan for usurping power - Criminal Code Article 300. It should be reminded that they were charged with two counts: usurping power, and committing official fraud.

The weighty one is the article on usurping power, for which they kept Babayan in detention for 22 days, but then they had to release.

The matter is about Hrayr Tovmasyan becoming President of the CC [Constitutional Court]. However, the accusation is so groundless that after launching it, not only did investigative actions not take place with the "accused," and now they are going to drop the case under a weights article; the [official] fraud [charge] will remain.
