US Secretary of Defense Mark Esper has ordered the Armed Forces to analyze the procedure for inspecting foreign servicemen following a shooting at a Florida navy base that resulted in casualties, the Voice of America reports.

According to him, shortly after the killing of three people at a military base last Friday, he asked for an inspection on foreign nationals arriving in the United States.

The FBI said the gunman, Saudi Air Force Lieutenant Mohammed Alshamrani, 21,was a student at the Naval Aviation Command School at the Pensacola Naval Station. The FBI has not yet found out the motive behind Alshamrani's actions.

The victims were also this school’s students.

Authorities say eight people were injured in the shooting.

The gunman was killed in the incident.

Several Saudi Arabia students have been detained for questioning.
