The Republican Conscription Commission of Armenia today held an enlarged session at the administrative complex of the Ministry of Defense, and during the session, the Commission summed up the summer conscription in 2019 and discussed issues on proper organizing and conduct of the winter conscription, reports the news service of the Ministry of Defense.

During the session, the attendees presented the results of the summer conscription, the positive trends and omissions and the current problematic issues.

In his speech, Minister of Defense Davit Tonoyan said it is important to continue to ensure fairness and transparency and strictly rule out corruption phenomena during the upcoming conscription as well and emphasized the fact that, overall, the summer conscription of this year was held in an organized manner and without any hindrances.

The defense minister also attached importance to the ensuring of cooperation between interested organizations and subdivisions in order to further strengthen the close bonds between the army and society, as well as the trust and support of the society in and to the armed forces. Tonoyan also urged Armenian conscripts abroad to return to Armenia and register by the end of this year since the legislative regulation by which young people returning to Armenia for military registration are not subject to criminal liability, won’t be in effect next year.
