In September of this year, we even reviewed the issue and asked ourselves if we could take loans from external donors, but after a situational assessment, we realized that there was a need to engage financial resources, and this is why this issue was presented to the parliament for consideration. This is what Deputy Minister of Finance Armen Hayrapetyan said during a special parliamentary session today.
In response to this statement, deputy of Prosperous Armenia Party Tigran Urikhanyan expressed his discontent and said it was bad that the government had to engage financial resources.
However, the deputy minister declared that it wasn’t so bad and said the following: “The ratio of external debt to GDP is declining faster than we expected. Having a debt is a good thing, if you can manage it the right way and achieve the expected outcome. Armenia is making the transition to the engagement of target loan programs,” Hayrapetyan added.
