Russia is a key player, and dialogue with it is needed to build the foundation for European security. French Foreign Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian said this on Sunday on the air of France Inter radio.
But France's foreign minister has called Russia a threat to NATO, claiming that members of the alliance have confronted it.
According to Le Drian, in this connection, Paris is trying at the same time "to show determination to protect its (eastern) partners, and to start a dialogue with Russia on issues on which agreement can be reached."
