YEREVAN. – The future law will protect "vulnerable groups" such as the media, society, national minorities, but not politicians, as they are not a "vulnerable group." Maria Karapetyan, an MP of the ruling My Step bloc, said this at the December 16 sitting of the Standing Committee on Protection of Human Rights and Public Affairs of the National Assembly of Armenia, when discussing the matter of establishment of a working group on the discussion of hate speech reforms in the country’s legislation.

She also noted that the future respective law should solve the problems of specific groups of society.

The committee endorsed the creation of this working group. And by a separate vote, ruling My Step alliance MP Sargis Khandanyan was appointed as head of this group.
