Ukraine deported opposition Azerbaijani blogger Elvin Isayev to Azerbaijan ahead of President Volodymyr Zelenskyy to Azerbaijan, European Truth reported referring to the State Migration Service of Azerbaijan.

Isayev was placed in remand prison No. 1 of the Azerbaijani Prison Service on December 14 based on the decision of the Nasimi District Court dated August 22, 2019.

A number of Ukrainian media reported the mysterious disappearance of a blogger in Kiev.

Isayev arrived in Kyiv at the end of September 2019 from Russia, where he lived for a long time. In August 2019, Russian police suddenly detained him.

After the trial, his Russian passport was recognized as illegally issued and seized. The blogger was sent to a center for temporary detention of foreigners for subsequent extradition to Azerbaijan.

On September 11, Isayev was released thanks to the emergency intervention of the European Court of Human Rights, which applied rule 39 and prohibited its extradition to Azerbaijan. After that, the activist left for Ukraine.

Isayev sharply criticized Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, called him a dictator and talked about corruption in Azerbaijan. The blogger is not a pro-Ukrainian activist.

It is worth noting that President Volodymyr Zelenskyy is expected to visit Azerbaijan in the coming weeks.
