YEREVAN. – After the match between Armenia and Macedonia, Football Federation of Armenia (FFA) former president and ex-MP Ruben Hayrapetyan had awarded the Armenian footballers $500,000 from his own funds. Hayrapetyan said this on December 16, during a TV program.

"You will all remember after the Macedonia vs. Armenia match that [Turkish president] Erdogan went to Macedonia and said, 'Beat Armenia, I will give you 3 million euros,’" Hayrapetyan said. “I told the boys, 'Beat Macedonia with a big score, I will give [you] a great reward; and I gave $500,000 - a bonus for that game - to the whole team; of course, from my own money."

According to him, there were other bonuses, but not as much, and again from his own funds.

"The saddest thing is that after all this, they say that I have stolen money, and the money I give is just ridiculous," he added. “You are doing so that no one comes in the future, wants to spend his personal money, make rewards. What is the purpose?"
