The Yerevan court of general jurisdiction of Kentron and Nork Marash Administrative Districts today postponed the trial over the case of former president of the Yerkrapah Union of Volunteer Land Defenders Manvel Grigoryan for half an hour.

The trial began later than scheduled so that Manvel Grigoryan could be brought to the courtroom.

Judge Mnatsakan Martirosyan said Grigoryan’s attorneys had told him that Grigoryan started feeling bad when he was being transferred from the medical center. “However, we were told that he might be transferred,” the judge said.

The court ruled to postponed the trial for half an hour so that Manvel Grigoryan could show up.

Grigoryan’s attorneys have appealed the November 5 decision of Judge Mnatsakan Martirosyan to the Criminal Court of Appeal. The decision denied the motion to replace remand as preventive measure for Manvel Grigoryan with pledge. Today the Criminal Court of Appeal denied the attorneys’ appeal.

Upon a court decision, the cases of Manvel Grigoryan and his wife, Nazik Amiryan have been detached from each other.

Manvel Grigoryan is charged with keeping illegal arms and ammunition, embezzling property worth more than AMD 101,000,000, avoiding payment of taxes worth more than AMD 1,000,000,000, squandering over AMD 1,000,000,000 from state funds and organizing the embezzlement of property worth AMD 37,000,000 through extortion.
