The forum of organizations dealing with the reintegration of citizens of the Republic of Armenia held its seventh and regular meeting today.

“Reintegration is associated with two sectors, including social support and development and management of migration flows,” Head of the State Migration Service Armen Ghazaryan stated, adding that the Service is also involved in developing a sector-specific policy.

The draft of the Unified Strategy on the Policy of Integration of Forcefully Displaced Persons in the Republic of Armenia and Reintegration of Citizens of the Republic of Armenia Returning to Armenia was presented during the forum. Expert of the task force for development of the Strategy Alina Poghosyan stressed that the national agenda has been incorporated in the document and that there are six target groups defined in the document, the first of which is the group of returnees. She added that 80 objectives were set based on needs assessment conducted by all role-players in the sector.

The Cooperation for Assistance in Reintegration OFFII-BAMF (CAROB) Program, which was launched on September 1 by the French Office for Immigration and Integration (OFFI) and the German Federal Office for Migration and Refugees (BAMF), was also introduced during the meeting, and the Program’s officer Ara Hovhannisyan presented the whole procedure of a particular case. “We receive the whole case from the BAMF, conduct a needs assessment and determine which non-governmental organization or business consultant the case will be assigned to. The given partner develops a reintegration plan and sets up an evaluation committee, which expresses its opinion in the course of 48 hours. Later, the case is sent to the BAMF, which gives a conclusion in five days, and the Ambassador of Germany has the final word.”
