After the terrorist attack at the Christmas market in Berlin in 2016, Germany’s intelligence agencies prevented nine Islamist attacks in the country, Welt am Sonntag reported.

Two new terrorist attacks were avoided only in November this year. The agency did not report specific data on the prevented attacks.

A 24-year-old alleged Islamist was detained in November in Offenbach on suspicion of planning a terrorist attack. A few days later, a 37-year-old Syrian was detained in Berlin, searching the Internet for information on the creation of explosive devices. An investigation is ongoing in both cases
