Protests in Iraq resumed after politicians failed to reach consensus over the nomination of the Prime Minister.

AFP reports that the protesters burnt tires in the large cities of southern Iraq, and this led to the closure of schools and state institutions.

The talks over the nomination of the Prime Minister entered a deadlock after the term for determining the candidate expired yesterday.
