The year 2019 was a year of attacks on state institutions. This is what Spokesperson of the Republican Party of Armenia Eduard Sharmazanov told journalists today.

He recalled that Nikol Pashinyan had called on citizens to block entrances to and exits from courts a day after the release of second President of Armenia Robert Kocharyan in May of this year. “The dictator of our times wasn’t satisfied with this and personally participated in the blockage of courts the next day. This was an unlawful and unconstitutional act. The Constitution lays down the principle of separation of powers, and by blocking courts, Pashinyan proved once again that his policy has nothing to do with democracy. The head of government of any legal state can’t interfere in the activities of the legislature and the judiciary, much less block courts.

Later, we witnessed attacks on the Constitutional Court and listened to the famous speech by Vahe Grigoryan, who was elected judge of the Constitutional Court by the National Assembly. Later, it turned out that he was elected ‘president’ of the Constitutional Court. Now the legislature has adopted a law by which an attempt is being made to bribe judges of the Constitutional Court. This serves as a brilliant example of government corruption,” Sharmazanov said.
