Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan held phone talks with UK PM Boris Johnson, during which they discussed the situation in Syria and Libya, the Turkish leader’s administration said.

According to the statement, Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan had phone talks with British Prime Minister Boris Johnson. During the conversation, bilateral relations and regional issues were discussed, primarily Libya and Syria, RIA Novosti reported.

The armed conflict in Syria has been ongoing since 2011. At the end of 2017, a victory was announced over the ISIS in Syria and Iraq. In some areas of the country, mopping-up operations continue. A political settlement, the restoration of Syria, and the return of refugees are in the forefront.

After the overthrow and assassination of Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi in 2011, Libya virtually ceased to function as a single state. Dual power reigns in the country now.
