The letter of second President of Armenia Robert Kocharyan addressed to the artists and cultural figures who had issued a statement with the demand for his release from prison, has been posted on the Facebook page of the committee for the release of Robert Kocharyan.

“Dear friends,

I am writing to you to express my sincere gratitude for the statement that you issued on your behalf and calling for my release from prison. I thank you and am touched. The care and attention of such a group of talented, well-known and reputable people would be honorable for any state or political figure. I know most of you personally, and I look forward to meeting the rest of you when I get the chance.

I would particularly like to stress your civic stance and courage through which you expressed your conviction, without focusing on the viewpoint of the authorities. I would like you to know that it is not just about the unlawful detention. This is about legal tolerance, political repressions and destruction of our national identity.

Dear friends, once again, I sincerely thank you all and would like to wish you happy holidays. I wish you and your families health and welfare.
