Syrian authorities are preparing to file a lawsuit against the US for plundering the country's oil resources, said senior advisor to Syrian President Bashar al-Assad

"Shaaban warned the US of popular opposition and operations against the presence of American troops at Syrian oil fields, and insisted on the exit of all foreign occupiers, whether they are terrorists, Turks or Americans," PressTv reported quoting the advisor.

Earlier, US President Donald Trump withdrew most of the troops from this region amid the Turkish military operation in northeast Syria. American soldiers remain in small numbers in the south and east, where, according to the Pentagon, they help local Kurdish formations 'guard' oil fields.

Syrian President Bashar al-Assad said the US sells oil to Turkey from the Syrian fields they seized.

Since 2014, the US and its allies have been conducting a military operation in Syria without the permission of the country's authorities.
