Moldovan President Igor Dodon proposed that the next presidential election be scheduled for November 8, 2020.

His remarks came in an interview with N4, TASS reported.

He noted that he had not yet decided to run for the next term, promising to voice it in July-August.

Moldova returned to the popular election of the president in 2016. This happened after the decision of the Constitutional Court, which recognized the reform of 2000 to be unlawful. The parliament tried to limit the power of the incumbent head of state Peter Kuchinsky. According to analysts, these changes caused a series of political crises in the country, when deputies could not elect a president.

According to local laws, the date of the presidential election is set by parliament.
