Tehran claims US attacks in Syria and Iraq are an act of terrorism,Tehrannews reported.

“US military aggression against the Iraqi soil and positions of al-Hashd al-Shaabi forces is a clear example of terrorism and is strongly condemned,” Foreign Ministry spokesman Abbas Mousavi said in a statement.

According to him, the attacks once again exposed Washington’s lies in fighting Daesh (ISIL) terrorist group because it has “targeted positions of forces who have dealt heavy blows to Daesh terrorists in recent years.” He urged the U.S. to respect Iraq’s independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity and stop intervening in the country’s domestic affairs.

The Pentagon said earlier that the US attacked five targets of the Kataib Hezbollah movement in Iraq and Syria in response to repeated attacks on Iraqi bases. The defense department explained that these actions were taken as a response to attacks by movement on an Iraqi base near Kirkuk, which led to the death of a US citizen and the injury of four American troops. According to Pentagon, these attacks are aimed at lowering the group’s ability to conduct attacks in the future against coalition forces. US accuses Iran of sponsoring Hezbollah.
