California Senator Anthony Portantino has backed American Armenian Elen Asatryan's nomination as a member of the Democratic Country Central Committee in the March 3 election.

Portantino chairs the California Senate Appropriations Committee.

Asatryan has been serving as a California delegate to the Democratic Party since 2015.
