The recent statement by Iranian FM Mohammad Javad Zarif on the country's withdrawal from the NPT was a repeat of President Hassan Rouhani’s warning, said Iranian MFA spokesperson Abbas Mousavi.

According to him, the message said if Europe sends the Iranian nuclear program to the UN Security Council and sanctions that were in force before the conclusion of the Iranian deal are returned, then Tehran will withdraw from the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons (NPT) as a response.

On May 8, 2019, Iran informed the ambassadors of Russia, UK, France, Germany and China about the termination of its fulfillment of certain points within Iranian nuclear deal. Iranian president has delivered a message to the heads of diplomatic missions of these states, and explained the country's position on this issue.
