The Armenian government isn’t against GazProm Armenia laying off workers for optimization. This is what Deputy Prime Minister Mher Grigoryan declared as he responded to deputies’ questions in parliament.

Grigoryan stated that this concerns all companies, especially companies that provide public services.

The reduction of workers is being considered within the scope of the possible increase of the natural gas tariff for consumers. Grigoryan had said the company might apply to the Public Services Regulatory Commission to review the tariff after April of this year and that the price on the border would remain the same.

Gazprom Armenia has declared several times that it can’t maintain the tariffs forever since that will mean reducing investments and laying off workers.
