Baku has decided to blame Yerevan for its destructive position once again, and a statement on this was made by Head of the Foreign Policy Department of the Staff of the President of Azerbaijan Hikmet Hajiyev.

“As President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev has already stated, unfortunately, last year was a year of losses. We didn’t see any progress in the talks. In addition, we continue to see Armenia leading an ineffective and destructive policy," Hajiyev said, reports Interfax, citing Euractiv.

Baku is discontent with Yerevan’s position on the need to restore the format of the talks and bring Nagorno-Karabakh back to the negotiating table.

Hajiyev unilaterally presents the recent document of the European Union on the security policy, viewing it as evidence of support to Azerbaijan’s position. “This is very important for us, and we are grateful for that stance. We believe the fundamental principles deriving from the Helsinki Final Act and international law must be applied for all conflicts, without exceptions. We hope this policy remains since territorial integrity is important for every country,” Hajiyev said.
