YEREVAN. – Transparency International has published its annual Corruption Perceptions Index 2019 report on corruption in the public sector. The report covers 180 countries, with Armenia making the most progress among the CIS countries, garnering 42 points out of 100 maximum, instead of 35 points last year, and ranking 77th instead of the previous ranking of 105th. Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan announced this at the government session today.

"That is, we have made progress by 28 points," the prime minister stressed. "The report noted that after the revolution and the formation of the new government, Armenia has promising prospects in the field of anticorruption reforms, and despite the aforementioned developments, non-transparent public phenomena hinder the radical elimination of corruption [in the country].

It was emphasized that time and resources will be needed to eliminate corruption, and the public should have greater trust in the work of the judiciary and law enforcement agencies."
