YEREVAN. – The border situation is stable. Armenia’s Defense Minister Davit Tonoyan said this in a conversation with journalists today.

Referring to the incident in which a soldier was wounded, Tonoyan said that this soldier was in critical but stable condition. "After the surgery, he is under supervision," he added.

Asked whether the official investigations into the latest incidents have been completed, he said: "Official investigations begin immediately in the Armed Forces, but this is coupled with a preliminary investigation which goes in parallel."

The reporters also inquired whether the commanders were being penalized, to which the minister replied: "The Chief of General Staff of the Armed Forces and the Minister of Defense subject both the senior and junior command staff to disciplinary penalty. And as for their culpability on this or that case is determined as a result of the preliminary investigation.”
