A total of 290-300 people die every year in Armenia as a result of an accident due to poor traffic management, the Association of Consumers of Armenia NGO chair Armen Poghosyan told reporters on Wednesday.

He added that it is unacceptable to bear such human losses.

According to him, a point system can mitigate this problem if some important standards are applied.

"The driver should be personally responsible, and secondly, the fine should be withdrawn from the percentage of the driver’s salary to avoid the situation when people with different income levels pay fines of a single size," he said.
