Based on the results of the year 2019, the amount of taxes paid by the first 1,000 large taxpayers comprises AMD 1,061,000,000,000. This is what Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan wrote on his Facebook page.

“A growth of AMD 122,000,000 (13%) has been recorded compared with 2018, and compared with 2017, the amount of paid taxes has risen by nearly AMD 254,000,000, or 31%.

Before stating the other fact, I must say that direct taxes (income tax, profit tax) are more prone to being shady than indirect taxes. From the perspective of tax administration, recording direct taxes requires greater efforts than recording indirect taxes.

Between January and December 2019, the 10 largest taxpayers paid nearly AMD 257,000,000,000 in taxes to the state budget, which is more than nearly AMD 23,000,000,000 or 10% more compared with the previous year.

Throughout 2019, 191 companies of Armenia paid taxes worth more than AMD 1,000,000,000, in 2018 — 166 companies, and in 2017 — 141 companies.

Throughout 2019, 361 companies paid more than AMD 500,000,000 in taxes. In the same period of 2018, there were 320 companies, and in 2017 — only 285.

Throughout 2019, 555 companies paid more than AMD 100,000,000 in direct taxes, in 2018 — 497, and in 2017 — 425,” he stated.
