Russian President Vladimir Putin and German Chancellor Angela Merkel discussed Trump's 'deal of the century' over the phone, Kremlin press service reported.

Among other relevant topics, the situation in Ukraine and Syria, as well as Middle East peace process issue, were touched upon. The leaders exchanged views on the US plan for resolving the Palestinian-Israeli conflict.

The two also discussed the implementation of the agreements reached at the Libya conference in Berlin on January 19.

Both sides emphasized the expediency of building up the efforts of the world community in the interests of ensuring a stable regime for ending hostilities and launching a political dialogue.

Talks have been initiated by the Russian side.
