YEREVAN. – According to this bill, NGOs registered and operating in Armenia shall from now on provide information each year on the number of their members and the sources of their funding. State Revenue Committee Deputy Chairman Edvard Hovhannisyan stated this at the February 3 sitting of the National Assembly (NA) Standing Committee on Protection of Human Rights and Public Affairs, during the discussion of the bill on making amendments to the country’s law on NGOs.

At the same time, he noted that if the information is presented late or is not clear or does not correspond to the activity, the given NGO will have to pay a fine of 50,000 drams and will also have to submit names and positions.

Representatives of all the NA factions expressed concern about this bill.

However, the bill was endorsed at the aforesaid committee.
