YEREVAN. – At least public discussions should be held before disclosing peoples' banking secrecy. Davit Ananyan, Chairman of the State Revenue Committee (SRC) of Armenia, said this on February 4, during the discussion of the report on the state budget performance during the 9 months of 2019, at the sitting of the parliamentary Standing Committee on Financial-Credit and Budgetary Affairs.
According to Ananyan, the issue of bank secrecy of people should be taken seriously and very carefully, as not everyone supports the new law.
Ananyan added that he does not support this initiative because he has well-founded observations and concerns that have not yet been dispelled.
"We have been entrusted with protecting the banking secrecy of the citizens," the SRC chairman concluded. "And we are, in fact, fulfilling the duty placed upon us."
