The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) has not recorded any new violations by Iran of the nuclear deal since Tehran announced the fifth phase of deviation from this deal, said IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi, speaking at the Carnegie Endowment in Washington.

“After the fifth step, there hasn’t been any follow-up,” Reuters reported quoting Raphael Grossi. “Of course, they continue to enrich.”

Iran announced the final, fifth stage of the reduction of its 2015 nuclear deal obligations on January 5. Tehran’s new step suggests that it will not comply with the restrictions set by the Iranian deal on the number of centrifuges for uranium enrichment. On January 14, UK, Germany and France reported that due to Iran’s actions, they had no choice but to launch a dispute resolution mechanism under the Iranian deal. The official representative of the Iranian MFA, Abbas Mousavi, said on Monday that European countries have not yet activated this mechanism.

The future of the nuclear deal came into question after the US unilaterally withdrew from it on May 8, 2018 and Washington imposed sanctions against Tehran on oil exports. According to the Iranian side, the rest of the participants, mostly Europeans, do not fully adhere to their obligations in the economic part of the deal, therefore, it does not make sense in its current form. Iran began a phased suspension of its obligations under the deal regarding uranium enrichment and research activities, and in early January announced the completion of this process.
