YEREVAN. – Today I am going to declare about getting involved in active politics, and I will try to present myself in the political arena. Arthur Vanetsyan, National Security Service former director and ex-president of the Football Federation of Armenia, stated this during a meeting with the editors of Armenian newspapers.

"Engaging in politics implies the creation, registration of a political force that I intend to carry out in the near future," he said. “In the near future a new political force will be established; political consultations are already underway in that direction, and we will announce soon about the registration of our party."

Asked if he thinks his entry into the political arena is in demand today, Vanetsyan said: “I know very well the concerns that our citizens (…) share, and those concerns are very widespread and, to be honest, appropriate. We have done those studies, and I think there is a need today to form a political force that will try to consolidate and unite the broad masses of society that today doesn’t accept the current authorities’ practices, they are dissatisfied with the current authorities’ practices, the hopes of the society have not been justified, and they are also people who do not want a return to the past.

I am the person who will fight so that suddenly there would be no return to the past. But I am also the person who opposes the divisions of society, (...) we are all Armenians and all are citizens of the Republic of Armenia."
