There was no genuine competition in the snap parliamentary elections on Sunday in Azerbaijan, despite the large number of candidates, said representatives of the observer mission from ODIHR of OSCE, TASS reported.

Despite the large number of candidates, legislative restrictions hindered real competition, the mission said in a statement.

Representatives of the observer mission also note that the work of election commissions at various levels in the past elections was transparent to observers, but it was not able to ensure the holding of free democratic elections.

The work of election commissions was open and transparent for observation, the statement noted adding that however, this did not provide an unbiased free election.

The vote counting process caused our disappointment, it is said.
