YEREVAN. – The court has denied the prosecution’s motion to arrest defendant Mutafyan at the Yerevan court of first instance during the trial in the case of Narek Mutafyan and Sargis Ohanjanyan, supporters of second President Robert Kocharyan of Armenia.

As reported earlier, the prosecutor had noted that Mutafyan, while in freedom, could commit a new crime.

Vahe Yeprikyan, the lawyer for the defendants, told Armenian News-NEWS.am that such a motion by the prosecutor is groundless and should be denied.

Sargis Ohanjanyan and Narek Mutafyan have been charged with asking Judge Danibekyan, who presides over Robert Kocharyan's case, questions regarding this case and video recording it on the street, which the investigative body assessed as obstruction of justice.

The court of first instance had granted the investigator's motion and ruled that they be arrested.

But the Criminal Court of Appeal had granted their attorneys’ appeal and ruled that they be released.
