There are no grounds for Canada’s $1,000,000,000-dollar lawsuit against Iran for the Ukrainian plane downed near Tehran, and the demand for payments has been rejected by Minister of Foreign Affairs of Iran Mohammad Javad Zarif, reports RIA Novosti.

“Iran is taking necessary measures based on international rules,” Iran’s foreign minister said, adding that the lawsuit is groundless.

As reported earlier, Canadian lawyers have filed a group claim against the Iranian authorities with the demand for 1,500,000,000 Canadian dollars ($1,100,000,000) for the death of their compatriots on board the plane of Ukraine International Airlines downed in Tehran.
