During a discussion entitled “Constitutional Security: Challenges and Solutions”, member of the Supreme Body of the Armenian Revolutionary Federation-Dashnaktsutyun political party Artsvik Minasyan said a state crime against justice is being committed in Armenia.

“It is clear that the political authorities have majority in parliament and the opportunity to adopt a relevant law or amendment to the Constitution, but they are leaving it up to the people. The political authorities, which had placed another package of laws into circulation, realized that they were committing a crime and started speculating the people and introduced the referendum. This is overthrow of constitutional order. The political authorities can’t usurp the rights of the judiciary. I would like to remind them that those people will face 10-15 years in prison for this,” he stated, adding that this is clearly manipulation.

According to him, the claims that the Constitutional Court is standing in the way of reforms are groundless since there are no reforms on table today.

“Armenians abroad are surprised to see the head of government make such statements, block entrances to and exits from courts, attack a judge and impose street justice on a lawyer. Even Armenians abroad understand that the political authorities’ behavior will lead the country to perdition,” Minasyan said.
