Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan had a meeting with Secretary General Marija Pejcinovic Buric of the Council of Europe (CoE). This was reported by the press service of the PM.

The Prime Minister stressed the importance of today's meeting and noted that it is a good opportunity to discuss current matter and issues. He said Armenia is undergoing a large-scale process of democratic reform, they are making efforts to "demine" democracy and the judicial system in Armenia, and recently they have decided to hold a referendum on the Constitutional Court.

For her part, the CoE Secretary General noted that they have begun intensive cooperation between Armenia and the CoE, Armenia has asked the CoE to become involved in this process, and the CoE has started to closely monitor what is happening.

Prime Minister Pashinyan touched upon the democratic reforms taking place in Armenia, including in the judicial field, and spoke about the circumstances of the forthcoming referendum on constitutional amendments.

Buric expressed the CoE’s full support for Armenia’s reforms, including in the judiciary, and noted that discussions with the Armenian government on cooperation in this area would continue.
