At least five people were injured in a shooting at one of the Sunday carnival processions in Brazilian Sao Paul, G1 reported referring to the local public safety department.
According to preliminary information, a group of people tried to attack a policeman for robbery. Five people injured were hospitalized, their condition is stable, law enforcement agencies noted. The investigation is being carried out on the fact of what happened.
Eyewitnesses noted the attack was caused by a person trying to seize the weapons of a policeman guarding the carnival procession, TASS reported.
Widespread mass celebrations began last week in Brazil, dedicated to the upcoming carnival set to be held from February 21 to 25.
