YEREVAN. – Armenian National Assembly (NA) Speaker Ararat Mirzoyan, who is in Denmark on an official visit, yesterday visited the Amalienborg Palace, the home to the Danish royal family, and had a private talk with the Queen Margrethe II of Denmark, the NA staff reports.

Mirzoyan emphasized the importance of historical friendly ties between the two nations and expressed hope that they would deepen.

Margrethe II and Ararat Mirzoyan highlighted the significant role played by the two Danish missionaries, Maria Jacobsen and Karen Jeppe, in rescuing Armenian orphans during the days of the Armenian Genocide, creating a spiritual bond between the two peoples.

The Queen of Denmark, highlighting the arrival of such a high-level delegation from Armenia, expressed hope that this visit would serve as a serious basis for further deepening ties, cultural exchanges, and intensification of contacts between the two peoples. She wished the Armenian NA Speaker and the NA success in carrying out their functions for the benefit of Armenia.
