The National Security Service of Armenia has revealed another case of receipt of bribe by an official of a military registration office through investigative actions, as reported the news service of the National Security Service.

According to the obtained evidential data, the head of the recruitment department of a military registration office in one of Armenia’s provinces, an official performing public service and implementing the functions of a government official, in 2019, acted in conspiracy with an ex-official of that military registration office to defer recruits (introduced by that ex-official) from fixed-term military service or exempt the particular recruit from military service through familiar officials in exchange of a bribe.

After sufficient evidential data were obtained, persons having committed the alleged crime were apprehended, and the persons who gave bribes confessed the crime when there was irrefutable evidence.

In relation to the cases of prima facie crime, the Investigation Department of the National Security Service of Armenia has instituted a criminal case under relevant articles of the Criminal Code of Armenia, and the official having received a bribe and his accomplice have been detained. Preliminary investigation continues, relevant measures are being taken to reveal other possible crimes of receiving bribe and other persons engaged in the chain of corruption and to bring them to justice.
