The US interest in Armenia has grown significantly, Co-Chair of the Armenian Assembly of America (Assembly), lawyer Anthony Barsamian told the Voice of America.

According to him, if the Armenian-American relations were marked in 2019 with the recognition of the Armenian Genocide in the two houses of the US Congress and the allocation of about $60mn US assistance to Armenia, the prospects are wider this year.

The pace of today's development in Armenia is unprecedented, Barsamian says, adding that he speaks as an impartial observer who has been visiting Armenia since 1987 and whose organization, the Armenian Assembly of America, is not affiliated with any political party.

Armenia's progress is also observed among the leadership of the United States, the American-Armenian figure says. He added that the American side's interest in supporting Armenia's new democracy is notable as a country that is making respective progress day by day.

According to Anthony Barsamian, although the struggle for Genocide recognition will continue until this tragic reality is acknowledged by the US President as well, trade, economic, and investment prospects should play a greater role in the agenda of Armenian-American relations.

As for Armenia's domestic issues, the American-Armenian figure is convinced that solely people living in Armenia should deal with them.
