I believe that larger-scale actions should be taken immediately to prevent the coronavirus penetration [from Iran to Armenia]. Arman Abovyan, secretary of the opposition Prosperous Armenia faction in parliament, wrote this on Facebook.

"Yes, I know that the monitoring of those arriving from Iran has been tightened at the Armenian-Iranian border checkpoint," he added, in particular. "But given that the incubation period of the coronavirus is quite long (2-3 weeks), I believe that the tightening at the checkpoints will not fully solve the problem.

It is clear that there is a need to take temporary drastic steps; for example, to further stiffen the entry of people coming from Iran to our territory. I am convinced that our Iranian brothers will see this step as proper, especially given that the RA [Republic of Armenia] Embassy in Iran has already temporarily stopped providing consular services."
